Settled ‘Saw’ Law

United_StatesArkansas_clip_art_mediumEach state in the Union has unique aspects to set it aside from the others.

As a resident of Arkansas, I’m often amused by the stories I hear or read. When I first learned about the disagreement over how to say the name Arkansas, naturally, I was intrigued. Further, discovering the disagreement had risen to a level where it was necessary to address it with an actual law made the story even more amusing!

The light-hearted verse below refers to a “battle” of sorts that Arkansas history books used to mention; I’m not sure they do anymore, since it’s just a tidbit of “ancient” history. Still, if the pronunciation of Arkansas was important enough to get its own law, it’s well worth noting here.
